Biography
In the summer of 2007, guitarist and vocalist Tony Clark joined forces with drummer Jamie Houghton, guitarist Andrew Vilchez, and bassist Kyle Burns to launch the Ridgewood, New Jersey emo outfit Prawn. Drawing inspiration from such 1990s Midwestern emo acts as American Football and the Promise Ring, the group wasted little time issuing a string of self-released EPs while crisscrossing the United States and cultivating a loyal audience. Their first full-length effort, You Can Just Leave It All, appeared in 2011; the following year brought the expansive EP Ships. Amid an unrelenting tour itinerary that reached European stages by the summer of 2012, Vilchez departed and Burns shifted from bass to guitar and vocals. Multi-instrumentalists Corey Davis and Ryan McKenna assumed bass responsibilities and supplied an array of additional textures. A split with Joie de Vivre surfaced in early 2014, and later that summer the band delivered its second proper album, Kingfisher.
