British singer Jahnavi Harrison, who also plays instruments and teaches, has built her reputation around mantra meditation music. She put out the album Like a River to the Sea in 2015 while simultaneously guiding meditation gatherings and making appearances on BBC Radio.

Harrison entered the world in 1987 and spent her childhood inside a spiritually oriented household of Bhakti yoga devotees residing at Bhaktivedanta Manor in Hertfordshire, England. From early on she pursued music and other creative disciplines, training in Carnatic and Bharatanatyam styles of Indian music together with Western classical traditions. At Middlesex University she completed a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Creative Writing. After finishing her studies she established Kirtan London, where she organized and promoted an array of meditation events and workshops. The year 2015 saw the release of her debut album, Like a River to the Sea, as well as her contribution to Madi Das’ Grammy-nominated charity project Bhakti Without Borders. Beyond her recordings, she serves as host for BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought and BBC Radio 4’s Something Understood.
