Jaimee Harris channels a fervent style of Americana, drawing from the influence of Emmylou Harris, Eliza Gilkyson, and Mary Gauthier. Her initial full-length effort arrived as the eclectic Red Rescue during 2018, whereas the subsequent Boomerang Town, issued in 2023, delved into cycles of harmful repetition through a more straightforward Americana lens.

Raised beyond Waco in rural Texas, Harris received early encouragement from her parents, who presented her with a guitar at age five. They accompanied her to the inaugural Austin City Limits Music Festival, exposing her to performances by Emmylou Harris and Patty Griffin. That encounter sparked a pivotal realization in the young artist, framing music as an escape route from provincial existence. She later took up songwriting, and the morning after the 2016 presidential election—while residing in Austin—prompted her to accelerate those career plans. Selecting material composed between 2013 and 2017, she tracked her debut, Red Rescue, with Craig Ross in September 2018; additional voices and instrumentation came from Bonnie Whitmore of the Whitmore Sisters, along with Jimmy LaFave and BettySoo. Following positive notices for that release, Harris moved to Nashville and joined Mary Gauthier, a previous workshop guide and fellow queer country performer, for touring engagements.

Ruby White Records issued her stripped-down The Congress House Sessions in March 2021. Later that year came standalone tracks such as the Aaron Lee Tasjan-produced “Keep Me on Your Mind” and the Pat Byrne duet “Losing Heart.” Further previews from her sophomore project surfaced across 2022 before Boomerang Town appeared complete on Folk ’N Roll Records/Thirty Tigers in February 2023. Mark Hallman, whose past sessions encompassed work with Gilkyson, Gretchen Peters, and Carole King, helmed the project.
