Biography
Jane Child entered the world within a musically inclined household in Toronto, receiving violin instruction from her father and vocal guidance from her mother. Although rock music was forbidden at home, she regularly tuned into an R&B station broadcasting from nearby Buffalo, New York, while harboring ambitions of assembling a band. She ultimately left the Royal Conservatory of Music to perform with a rock group based in Toronto. Warner Music extended a recording contract in 1988 based solely on a demo tape, leading Jane Child to issue her debut single, "Don't Wanna Fall in Love," in 1990. Her self-titled first album arrived the same year, and Here and There appeared in 1993.
