Biography
Swedish dansband Jannez originated in Laxsjö, Sweden, where it was established in 1976. Its lineup consists of Janne on vocals and guitar, Kjelle on vocals and drums, Richard on vocals and bass, and Peo on vocals and keyboards. For several decades the group remained largely unknown beyond regional appearances along the Swedish dansband circuit and issued three albums that attracted minimal attention: Härliga Tider - Strålande Tider! in 1989, Någonstans i Mitt Hjärta in 1994, and Någonsdans i Sverige in 2001. Visibility increased sharply after the band was selected for the 2008 television program Dansbandskampen. Jannez made its first appearance on November 22 and returned as a finalist on December 20, although it did not claim the top prize. The exposure nevertheless generated substantial attention, which helped propel the 2009 album Guenerina onto the Swedish albums chart, where it reached the Top 20. The next release, Se På Oss Nu in 2010, performed even better by entering the Top Ten.
