An Austrian schlager vocalist whose output stretches across multiple decades, Jazz Gitti first entered studios in the 1980s and reached her widest audience in the first years of the following decade while leading the group Jazz Gitti & Her Disco Killers. She entered the world as Martha Buthbul on May 13, 1946, in Vienna, Austria, and stepped before microphones for the initial time in 1984 when Sing Sang issued her 7" single "Hey Du." Real momentum arrived only in 1990, when the full-length A Wunda, credited to Jazz Gitti & Her Disco Killers, topped the national chart and yielded the number-three single "Kränk di Net." Follow-up sets Hoppala (1991), Alles Pico Bello (1993), Der Nackte Hammer (1995), and Nimm's Leicht (1996) each placed inside the Top 20 yet failed to match the breakthrough album's commercial peak or replicate the earlier single's impact. Activity continued through the late 1990s and early 2000s with Appetit auf Di (1998), Made in Austria (2001), Es Geht Immer Bergauf (2003), and Die Liebe Meines Lebens (2004), though public interest had by then diminished sharply. A change of label to Rebeat brought renewed attention when Meine Wahren Memoiren appeared in 2006, and two further Top Ten releases, Ob Heit Moch i Nur Wos i Wü (2007) and Pures Leben (2009), sustained that late-career resurgence.
