Biography
Possessing a small yet appealing vocal timbre, Jeanie Bryson delivers her material with subtle sensuality. As the offspring of Dizzy Gillespie—a detail kept from widespread awareness throughout his life—her parentage traces to songwriter Connie Bryson on her mother's side. After earning her degree from Livingston College in 1981, she spent ten years as a freelance performer, which included multiple journeys to Europe. Beginning in 1992, she cut multiple high-quality Telarc releases, one of which paid homage to Peggy Lee, and she contributed vocals to Terence Blanchard's collection of tunes linked to Billie Holiday.
