Biography
Born in Tennessee, Jessica Andrews entered a household steeped in music and discovered her singing talent during a fourth-grade talent show. Her interpretation of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" captured first prize and launched her into performances at local fairs and carnivals, wherever an opportunity to sing arose.
Talk of Andrews' abilities circulated quickly, prompting friends of Nashville producer Byron Gallimore to urge him to hear her. Captivated by her vocal range and tonal control, Gallimore joined Andrews in the studio to select material for recording. He further arranged for DreamWorks Nashville label representatives to attend one of her showcases, resulting in an immediate contract offer. Heart Shaped World, her first album for the imprint, appeared in 1999. Who I Am followed two years later; the title track earned Andrews her first #1 country single. 2003 saw the release of Now, which introduced a slightly more down-to-earth, grown-up sound.
