Jocelyn Montgomery grew up surrounded by music in England, where her grandfather’s hobby of crafting fiddles first acquainted her with the country’s rich classical traditions. She deepened that exposure over six years of formal vocal study at The Purcell School of Music, then carried her training forward at Saint Paul’s Girls’ School while adding violin to her skills. Following graduation, she spent several years performing her classical-folk repertoire at parties and weddings in London and simultaneously pursued composition studies there. To meet expenses she took on small roles in independent films, yet after marrying she relocated to Los Angeles without interrupting her vocal work. The move brought fresh attention, prompting Mammoth Records to issue her album “Lux Vivens” in 1998, with additional production supplied by filmmaker David Lynch.
