Biography
Joey Calderazzo has earned recognition as a pianist of real promise in today’s mainstream jazz idiom, establishing his reputation early through a succession of strong Blue Note recordings. Classical lessons began for him at eight, jazz entered the picture several years afterward, and his profile rose sharply once he entered Michael Brecker’s group in 1987. Further sessions placed him with Brecker, Bob Belden, Jerry Bergonzi, Rick Margitza, and Bob Mintzer. Alongside his own work, Calderazzo stepped into the chair left vacant by the late Kenny Kirkland in the Branford Marsalis Quartet.
