Johnny Rivera

Born into a Puerto Rican family in New York’s Bronx, singer Johnny Rivera attended Manhattan’s Benjamin Franklin High School. A short stay in Puerto Rico preceded his return to New York, where he entered the tropical music scene. His first appearance came on the compilation Noche Caliente with the song “Terciopelo y Piedra,” after which he performed with Grupo Fascinación and later Conjunto Clásico. Signing with RMM Records led to the release of his debut album, Y Ahora De Verdad, in 1991.
