Biography
British folk-rocker Jon Allen entered the world in Winchester in 1977. A 2008 single titled “Going Home” found placement in a Land Rover advertisement, while his first full-length release, Dead Man’s Suit, surfaced the following year. Critics responded favorably, prompting television spots on Later with Jools Holland, multiple BBC radio sessions, and a European trek alongside Seal. Two years later he delivered the follow-up, Sweet Defeat. Once the accompanying European dates concluded, Allen turned to crafting the next collection, Deep River, which reached listeners in 2014. His fourth studio album, Blue Flame, appeared at the start of 2018; its consistently bright and optimistic sonic character was a deliberate choice meant to buoy listeners amid the political and social turbulence gripping the U.K. throughout the mid-2010s.
