Josh Ottum

Josh Ottum introduced his songwriting in 2007 through the album Like the Season, drawing on a distinctive talent for indie pop hooks paired with lush, ornate arrangements. The record assembled material he had amassed while composing in his Seattle bedroom, and its sessions enlisted James McAlister along with Casey Foubert—both musicians who had earlier collaborated with the similarly inclined songwriter Sufjan Stevens. In subsequent years Ottum maintained an active touring schedule, and the European edition of Like the Season earned favorable notices in British outlets such as Uncut and NME. At the same time his domestic following expanded when MTV featured his songs across multiple network programs.
