Biography
During the 1990s Juan Pablo Torres ranked among the foremost trombonists in Latin-jazz circles, supplying essential contributions to sessions led by Paquito D'Rivera, Charles Azvanour and Gilberto Santa Rosa. The Cuban also issued at least two dozen LPs under his own name while working as a sideman; those releases prompted Sony Tropijazz to sign him, starting with the 1995 album Trombone Man that included D'Rivera and pianist Hilton Ruiz. Early 1997 saw the arrival of Pepper Trombone, and three years later Torres resurfaced with Son Que Chevere.
