Kamal.

Blending withdrawn bedroom beats, gentle rap cadences, and sweeping R&B textures, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Kamal. shapes understated, bittersweet material. A string of notable singles paved the way for his first full-length release, the 2023 album so here you are, drowning.

Raised in London, Kamal. began issuing music in 2019 while still a teenager. Early cuts such as "smilingdownthephone" and "homebody," steeped in sadness and introspection, defined his singularly hermetic strain of R&B-pop and swiftly drew an audience. Beyond racking up tens of millions of streams, those tracks earned praise from key figures including Billie Eilish. In 2021 he issued the seven-song EP war outside and performed the hook on English rapper Dave’s “Mercury.” Further singles arrived before he delivered his debut album-length project, 2023’s so here you are, drowning.
