Biography
Ben Barnett routes his songwriting through the vehicle called Kind of Like Spitting. Four albums appeared from him in 2000 alone—Nothing Makes Sense Without It, Old Moon in the Arms of the New, You Secretly Want Me Dead, and One Hundred Dollar Room—prompting comparisons to Elliott Smith, Mark Eitzel, Billy Bragg, and Robert Pollard. A self-titled 2001 collection gathered re-recorded versions of earlier songs. Additional Barnett material has surfaced on assorted singles, EPs, and various-artist releases. Bridges Worth Burning followed in summer 2002. After the drummer quit during the subsequent tour, Barnett simply carried on with the remaining dates in acoustic form.
