Formed by Savages bassist Ayşe Hassan and Blindness bassist Kendra Frost, Kite Base unites two longtime friends who merge their shared affinity for post-punk and heavy low end into lean, elegant tracks that echo yet stand apart from their earlier work. Taking the name from a fundamental fold in origami, the pair started collaborating in 2015 and soon uploaded the tracks "Dadum" and "Miracle Waves," which drew widespread praise. Ahead of Kite Base's self-produced debut album Latent Whispers, released in 2017, came the singles "Soothe" and "Transition" along with a version of Nine Inch Nails' "Something I Can Never Have." Hassan and Frost captured the record at their own residences as well as at the facility run by Wrangler's Benge Edwards and the Maths' John Foxx.
