Biography
Kitty Kat Fan Club sprang from the members' wish to "hang out and write music," yielding their first feline-themed recordings on the 2016 debut EP Songs About Cats. The project took shape after Asian Man's Mike Park invited Casey Jones to collaborate on songs he had composed, an upbeat indie pop-punk sound that extended naturally from the roster of his storied punk imprint. Park handled guitar while Jones sang, and the pair recruited drummer Justin Amans, guitarist Mike Huguenor, and bassist Morgan Herrell to cut the initial EP. Released on Park's label and centered wholly on their cat companions, Songs About Cats arrived in 2016. Its successor, Work Space Grind, followed the next year, after which the band scheduled occasional live appearances whenever members were free from commitments with their other groups. Embracing an easygoing ethos and fluid roster, the collective issued its first full-length album in 2019. The updated configuration—now including Brianda Nocheazul on vocals and keyboards, Sim Castro on guitar, and Jon McMaster on bass alongside Park, Jones, and Amans—produced the melodic, lighthearted pop album Dreamy Little You.
