Formed in 2005, the Detroit, Michigan-based electro-industrial unit Konqistador operates under the direction of Canadian producers Elizabeth Graham and Reginald Tiessen. Their approach fuses ethno-darkwave, goth, post-punk, and glitched synth textures with drum and bass-driven industrial rock in a distinctly ominous manner, while drawing influence from an expansive range of artists and styles. Supported by a globally dispersed collective of producers and engineers, the band has maintained bases in Melbourne, Sydney, Istanbul, and Bucharest, allowing Northern European and Middle Eastern musical traditions and cultural elements to shape their output. Courage Riot, their debut album, appeared in 2006, followed by the Electriker EP in 2007. The ambitious, multi-format full-length Suada arrived in 2012. Further EPs came with Count to Zero in 2015 and Sex the Cut in 2016. Beginning in 2017, the group issued the opening singles from a forthcoming covers LP featuring reinterpretations of songs by Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Ministry, and additional artists.
