The British pop outfit the Korgis brought back together singer/bassist James Warren and singer/drummer Andy Davis, both of whom had previously worked together in cult favorites Stackridge. Guitarist Stuart Gordon and keyboardist Phil Harrison rounded out the original lineup, which released its debut single "Young 'n' Russian" during March of 1979. The follow-up "If I Had You" reached the UK Top 20, after which the Korgis put out their self-titled debut LP that same summer.

In 1980 the group achieved their biggest chart success via "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime," the opening single from sophomore album Dumb Waiters. Although that release also produced the minor hit "If It's Alright with You Baby," later singles such as "Rovers Return," "That Was My Big Mistake" and "All the Love in the World" stirred little interest. Following their third album, 1981's Sticky George, the Korgis found themselves dropped by label Rialto. The band soon split, leading Warren to deliver his solo LP Burning Questions in 1986. Four years afterward he and Davis revived the Korgis long enough to release a re-recorded version of "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime," then followed with the 1992 album This World's for Everyone. The group parted ways once more not long after.
