Biography
Early in the nineties, the Copenhagen-based outfit Koxbox helped pioneer the psychedelic trance genre that would dominate later on. Frank E, also known as Frank Madsen, and Peter Candy established the duo after crossing paths in 1980 during their time performing with rock groups in the Copenhagen area. Their friendship led to hosting a radio program on Danish airwaves, after which they shifted focus to techno towards the close of the eighties. Initial Koxbox tracks came out via WTP Records, securing a deal with Harthouse, Europe's premier trance imprint at the time. Ian Ion, serving as an additional member with his background in engineering and production, assisted in crafting the group's first full-length release, Forever After, issued in 1995. Throughout the decade's trance boom, the project contributed to prominent imprints including Blue Room Released with the track "Stratosfear" and T.I.P. with "Reoscillated." Blue Room Released put out their follow-up effort Dragon Tales during 1997. By 1999, however, tensions between Frank E and Peter Candy brought an end to the collaboration.
