Biography
Lackthereof originated in 1997 as Danny Seim’s nom de solo project, well before he joined the eclectic, Portland-based indie trio Menomena. Early recordings favored electronica-tinged experimentalism reminiscent of John Maus’s eccentric style, whereas later efforts turned more spare and folky, echoing Bon Iver and Bonnie "Prince" Billy. At the outset, all output remained limited to CD-Rs, six of which appeared between the project’s start and the point when Seim grew absorbed in Menomena. Several years afterward, FILMguerrero signed Seim and issued his seventh Lackthereof album, Christian the Christian, in 2005. The label followed with the spring 2008 release of My Haunted, Lackthereof’s second full-length for the imprint. Barsuk Records then put out Your Anchor only months later.
