Biography
Legend of the Seagullmen form a daring hard-rock supergroup that unites Brent Hinds of Mastodon, Danny Carey of Tool, Jimmy Hayward—director of Jonah Hex and former Pixar animator—Pete Griffin of Dethklok and Zappa Plays Zappa, David Dreyer, Chris DiGiovanni, and Tim Dawson. Their sound fuses progressive art-rock, heavy metal, and nautically themed psych-pop, summoning echoes of Blue Öyster Cult and Ghost alongside Alestorm and Tenacious D. The entire premise originated with brothers and visual artists Frank, Chris, and David Dreyer, who first began constructing the Seagullmen universe through live performances and films in 2011; Frank characterizes the saga as “a 400,000-year-old story with pirates, sailors, a rock band, and mythical sea creatures.” In 2018 the ensemble issued its self-titled debut album on the Dine Alone label.
