Biography
At the Geneva Conservatory, Rogg pursued studies in organ and piano, securing the premier prix on each instrument. His performances of the complete Bach organ works in the 1960s, followed by their recording, established his standing as a leading specialist in that repertoire. Although early audiences praised his technical command while noting a certain interpretive dryness, he later cultivated greater expressive range and is now celebrated for the personal stamp he brings to his readings. Over time he broadened his programming to take in Buxtehude, Couperin, Liszt and Brahms. He has also held the post of professor of counterpoint and organ at the Geneva Conservatory, prepared the pedagogical text Eléments de contrepoint for its students, and produced original works for organ, piano and chorus.
