Biography
Dreamy Swedish singer/songwriter Lisa Isaksson developed her atmospheric blend of psychedelic art rock and breathy indie folk on an acoustic guitar belonging to her mother that had long collected dust in the attic. Outside Stockholm, where she was born, Isaksson passed much of her early years among horses while harboring ambitions to instruct riders and run her own stables someday. Those pastoral scenes later surfaced in her songwriting, were captured on a reliable multi-track recorder, and reached listeners through Cantering, the home-recorded CD-R debut issued under the name Lisa O Lillportan. In time she gathered a circle of like-minded musicians and established the group Lisa o Piu. Evoking parallels with figures ranging from Vashti Bunyan to Joanna Newsom, the freshly assembled ensemble issued its first full-length album, When This Was the Future, via the Subliminal Sounds imprint in 2009.
