Biography
Liv Warfield commands attention as an R&B singer whose commanding, soul-drenched vocals and commanding presence light up any stage. Born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, she entered the world as the daughter of a deacon serving the Pentecostal Church of Jesus, where religious surroundings shaped her formative years. Gospel traditions alongside secular voices such as Etta James and Whitney Houston sparked her earliest musical interests, yet she initially channeled her energy into athletics rather than performance. In 1999 she relocated to Portland, Oregon, after earning a track-and-field scholarship to Portland State University. Frequent visits to local karaoke sessions at the Galaxy and Ambassador lounges gradually ignited her confidence, prompting a full commitment to vocal work. Regular appearances throughout the city followed by 2002, and two years later she issued her first album, Embrace Me. Prince, the iconic R&B figure, took notice of her kinetic live sets and neo-soul approach in 2008, inviting her into the New Power Generation. Outside those tours she continues fronting her own ensemble, the Liv Warfield Experience, and in 2014 she unveiled her second long-form release, The Unexpected.
