Biography
Lofofora, an alternative metal outfit from France, came together in 1989 and quickly established itself among the country’s most politically outspoken acts through a fusion of punk, alternative, and rap-metal driven by sharp, socially aware lyrics that recall the approach of Rage Against the Machine. By the late 2000s the group had issued six albums, yet it drew criticism from supporters over the mere presence of its MySpace page, which some listeners considered a direct violation of the band’s D.I.Y. punk principles. Earlier statements regarding the digital music marketplace had already provoked debate, but Lofofora kept performing and recording in the face of those disputes.
