Lorelei

Lorelei, a noise-pop band based in Virginia, came together in 1991. Beginning as a five-piece, the group pared down to a trio of singer/guitarist Matt, bassist Stephen, and drummer Davis after issuing its first Slumberland single, "The Bitter Air." Several compilation tracks appeared before the Asleep EP surfaced in early 1994, with the full-length Everyone Must Touch the Stove arriving the following year. Once the members of Lorelei each moved to separate parts of the U.S., the band dissolved in 1996 and its participants turned to solo work, including Matt’s recordings as Textile Sounds after a period in Sabine, Stephen’s output under the name Chessie, and Davis’s releases as Glass Bottom Boats.
