Los Angeles-based emo pop outfit Loveless entered the scene in 2020 through a run of warmly received singles, one of which paired the project with Kellin Quinn on “Someone Else.” Once the full-length Loveless 1 arrived in 2021, the group leaned further into its melodic emo pop-punk blend by releasing a series of Billboard-charting covers, among them Elley Duhe’s “Middle of the Night” and Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.”

Julian Comeau, after several years spent as a solo artist and producer, launched Loveless in 2019 alongside collaborator Dylan Tirapelli-Jamail. The Los Angeles pair channeled their shared affinity for emo, pop-punk, hardcore, and power pop into an incisive yet polished sound, first showcased on 2020 singles “Better” and “Someone Else,” the latter featuring Sleeping with Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn. That track later surfaced on the duo’s debut album, Loveless 1, released in May 2021. Additional streaming traction followed with “Meet Me at Our Spot” and the 2022 single “Middle of the Night,” which secured the band’s initial chart entry at number 17 on Billboard’s Hot Digital Singles. Later the same year brought the RØRY collaboration “My Funeral” as well as a viral cover of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.”
