Majoe

Born in Duisburg to Tamil parents who had left Sri Lanka before his arrival, the German rapper MaJoe (Mayjuran Ragnathan) first gained notice as half of a duo alongside Serbian collaborator Jasko. The pair issued two albums on the Banger Musik imprint—Mobbing Musik in 2012 and MaJoe vs. Jasko the following year. MaJoe later struck out alone on the same label, issuing his solo debut Breiter als der Türsteher in 2014; the set, which included appearances by Banger founder Farid Bang and Kollegah alongside additional guests, ascended to the summit of both Germany’s Media Control chart and Switzerland’s Schweizer Hitparade while peaking at number three in Austria. He returned to the top of the German rankings in 2017 with Auge des Tigers, an album accompanied by the bonus EP Summit.
