Biography
Male Bonding emerged as a three-piece lo-fi indie rock group from the Dalston district of London. John Arthur Webb handled guitar and vocals, Kevin Hendrick covered bass and vocals, and Robin Silas Christian played drums. Their initial public performance occurred in spring 2008 at a house party, an event whose self-reliant character reflected the band’s overall ethos. That approach led to their earliest recordings appearing on the group’s own Paradise Vendors Inc. imprint, beginning with a split 7" alongside Pens. The trio later contributed to a Flipper tribute 7" issued by Domino Records, after which they toured the U.K. with New York all-female lo-fi outfit Vivian Girls and shared bills with Lovvers, HEALTH, and Fucked Up, among others. In July 2009 the band signed with Sub Pop, and its debut full-length, Nothing Hurts, reached the label in 2010. To record the follow-up, the London trio entered the studio under producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Dinosaur Jr.), resulting in the 2011 release of their second album, Endless Now.
