Mariachi El Bronx

Mariachi El Bronx functions as the musical alter ego of the Los Angeles punk band the Bronx. The project originated in 2006 after the Bronx received an invitation to perform an acoustic set; instead of scaling back their approach, the musicians pursued an entirely fresh path that left hardcore behind and embraced Latin influences. While the Bronx maintained their touring schedule, the group developed songs for this side effort, which led to the release of the self-titled debut album under the Mariachi El Bronx name in 2009. Staying consistent with the pace of their primary band, the members issued a second album also titled Mariachi El Bronx in 2011. The collective reemerged in 2014 with Mariachi El Bronx (III), an effort that incorporated synthesizers and electronics into its established mariachi framework.
