Originally from the United States, Marisha Wallace had built her reputation through leading parts in musical theater productions on Broadway and in the West End before achieving chart placement with Tomorrow, her second album, which arrived in 2020.

Raised in North Carolina, she first drew notice in the 2012 U.S. tour of The Book of Mormon and later took the stage in the Broadway mountings of Aladdin and Something Rotten. Her 2016 relocation to London placed her in the alternate Effie White role for the West End staging of Dreamgirls. The year after that, she issued her debut record, the holiday-themed Soul Holiday. In the seasons that followed she remained active in West End productions, among them Waitress, and supplied vocals to the film Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey. Late in 2020 she released Tomorrow, an album that combined numbers drawn from stage musicals with a range of classic pop songs. The next year she rejoined Michael Ball—who had appeared on Tomorrow—onstage for the West End revival of Hairspray.
