Miguel Y Miguel

Hailing from Angostura in Sinaloa, the Mexican vocal duo Miguel y Miguel stood among the earliest conjunto acts to surface in an area long celebrated for its Norteño and Banda traditions. The group, made up of Jose Miguel Montoya and Miguel Angel Angulo, had already built a lasting reputation throughout Latin America by the time their 1996 album Cruz de Madera broke into the U.S. market behind the popular single "Sonora y Sus Ojos Negros." Carino Nuevo followed the next year, and Miguel y Miguel resurfaced in 1998 with El Collar de Guamuchil before delivering Cartitas de Amor in 1999. Frente a Frente arrived during spring 2000, and El Contrato came out the ensuing summer.
