Biography
Juan Atkins, recognized as the Detroit godfather, operated under the Model 500 alias for more than a decade, during which the project supplied the bulk of his most important output. The endeavor began with the 1985 classic "No UFO's" and ran through the arrival of his initial full-length album, 1995's Deep Space. Under this name Atkins built his standing by issuing ten singles on his Metroplex Records label plus further tracks on Belgium's R&S imprint. In the same year Deep Space appeared, R&S issued a compilation that gathered the finest Metroplex recordings credited to Model 500.
