Morgan James

Morgan James, a singer and actress whose soulful timbre shapes her work as a Broadway performer, gravitates toward the textures of vintage R&B. Born in Idaho, she moved through multiple cities with her family before completing her secondary education at Johansen High School in Modesto, California, where she trained in voice and performed with the school choir. Following graduation she obtained a Bachelor’s of Music in Voice from The Juilliard School in New York City. Her Broadway bow arrived in 2010 with The Addams Family, in which she shared the stage with Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. Two years later she issued the live Nina Simone tribute recording Morgan James Live from Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. She returned in 2014 with her first studio album, Hunter, produced by Doug Wamble and released on Epic.
