Biography
My Best Fiend, the expansive psychedelic rock outfit from Brooklyn, came together in 2004 as vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Fred Coldwell, Kris Lindblade, and Gary Tedder joined drummer Joe Noll to start performing and laying down early demos. Their broad sonic approach drew from the atmospheric sweep of Spiritualized and Explosions in the Sky while also nodding to grounded songwriters such as Tom Petty, leading the band to release the Acid Happy/Mary's Fits single through Gigantic Music in 2007. Following years of live performances, intensive rehearsals, and the addition of Damian Genuardi, the group put out the Jesus Christ EP on their own via Bandcamp in early 2011. They tracked their first full-length record alongside producer Matt Boynton while enlisting additional contributors such as Shannon Funchess and Anni Rossi. Warp Records revealed the signing of My Best Fiend toward the end of 2011, after which In Ghostlike Fading appeared in the first months of 2012.
