Nathan Hamilton

Born in Abilene, Texas, singer-songwriter Nathan Hamilton channels his countryside upbringing into striking, occasionally jarring portraits of small-town American life. Turning away from advertising as a profession, he moved to California in his early twenties to pursue acting and play writing instead. Music claimed his full attention by 1993, so he headed back to Texas and took a job on a horse ranch outside Austin. He became a member of the alternative country bluegrass ensemble the Sharecroppers in 1995, resulting in the well-received album Spirit of the Sharecroppers. Their work together wrapped up in 1998, after which his solo debut Tuscola arrived in 1999 on Steppin' Stone records.
