Biography
Nathaniel Merriweather, who performs under the alias Dan the Automator, coined the project name Lovage for the collective he assembled to create his 2001 album Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By. Numerous guest musicians lent their talents, among them Mike Patton from Faith No More and Fantomas, Kid Koala, Damon Albarn of Blur, Prince Paul, Jennifer Charles from Elysian Fields, and several others. That album served as the ensemble’s inaugural release.
