Biography
During the Strokes' break following their third album First Impressions of Earth, bassist Nikolai Fraiture decided to pursue an album under the Nickel Eye name. He drew on a cache of older poems and lyrics together with sounds from the Kinks, Frank Black, and early Leonard Cohen, cutting basic tracks with the band South in London before finishing the recordings in New York alongside friends such as Regina Spektor and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nic Zinner. Time of the Assassins appeared in winter 2009.
