Biography
Nothingface, an alternative metal group, came together in Washington, D.C., back in 1994. The lineup featured vocalist Matt Holt alongside guitarist Tom Maxwell, bassist Bill Gaal, and drummer Chris Houck, crafting intense and abrasive hard rock fused with weighty melodies and a raw punk edge. Following their pair of DCide efforts—Pacifier in 1997 and An Audio Guide to Everyday Atrocity the following year—the band achieved their first major-label release via TVT Records in the form of Violence, issued in 2000. Upon finishing that record, Tommy Sickles took over on drums in place of Houck, while Gaal departed in early 2001 to pursue work as a producer and engineer, eventually establishing the group In for the Kill. Bass duties then fell to Jerry Montano, previously of Deadlights.
