Panda Eyes

In 2014 electronic dance producer Panda Eyes first began issuing tracks built around powerful bass drops. Born Oskar Steinbeck in 1996, the Zurich-based DJ fused chiptune and dubstep with massive sub-bass rumbles, shaping a propulsive strain of glitch-hop comparable to Nero or Justice meeting early-era Skrillex. That year he put out the singles “Snake Bite,” “Rainbow Road,” and “The Elite,” the last of which featured OmegaMode. With his online audience expanding in 2015, he released “Antipixel” and “Immortal Flame,” the latter spotlighting vocalist Anna Yvette and Teminite. These recordings led directly to his debut LP, 2015’s Kiko. The album cut “Highscore,” again pairing him with frequent collaborator Teminite, gained modest traction on streaming platforms and exceeded 1.1 million streams by 2016.
