Notaker

Based in St. Louis, Notaker—real name Dave Nothaker—crafts EDM marked by shimmering atmospheres and textures that evoke the progressive house and trance peak of the late 1990s into the early 2000s rather than the harder-edged or more indulgent strains commonly linked to the style. A tense, cinematic edge runs through the material as well, shaped by film composers such as Hans Zimmer and by atmospheric electronic outfits like M83. His first single, “Oceanview Dr.,” came out via Tommie Sunshine’s Brooklyn Fire label in 2015. A self-titled three-song EP followed on Positronic in 2016. He subsequently joined the roster of Vancouver-based EDM powerhouse Monstercat, which issued the tracks “Infinite” and “Gems.”
