Slushii

Slushii serves as the stage name for American EDM musician Julian Scanlan, whose initial impact came through multiple remixes that circulated widely across streaming platforms during 2016. Back in 2009, still underage for driving and before settling on his current alias, Scanlan signed on as bassist and songwriter with the psych-rock outfit Deuteronomy. He contributed to their album The Propaganda of Deuteronomy, issued in 2012. During the same period he explored digital audio workstations independently, sharpening his techniques in recording and sonic processing. Turning 18, he launched his first Slushii remixes online in 2015, quickly accumulating over a million streams for the February 2016 Valentine's Day take on "Want U 2" alongside its originator Marshmello. Additional reworkings of tracks by Zara Larsson with MNEK, Alan Walker, and the Chainsmokers' summer hit "Closer" likewise drew millions of plays. Spanning dubstep and future bass, his independently issued debut EP Brain Freeze surfaced in spring 2016, anchored by the original cut "Emptiness." The dubstep track "Catch Me" followed in early 2017 and led into the Marshmello joint effort "Twinbow." Later that August he released his first full-length album, Out of Light. His 2018 releases encompassed a second Marshmello pairing titled "There x2," the seven-track Find Your Wings EP, and the album Dream. The single "Never Let You Go," which featured Sofia Reyes, appeared the next year.
