Zomboy represents the project of Joshua Mellody, a sound engineer who crafts ferocious, predatory productions spanning stadium-sized dubstep, drum'n'bass, and electro-house. Mellody entered the world in Penzance, a modest settlement outside Cornwall, England, later relocating to the United States to pursue recording and engineering work before heading back across the Atlantic. Following a run of electro releases issued chiefly as cover versions under the alias Place Your Bet$, he settled once more in Guildford, U.K., channeling admiration for Skrillex and Rusko into his productions and adopting the Zomboy moniker, itself drawn from the game Left for Dead.

His introduction to the scene arrived in 2011 via the Game Time EP on Never Say Die. That record held a position inside Beatport’s Top Five dubstep listings for eight weeks, placing Mellody alongside his influences on the retailer’s rankings; before the year closed, his original material and remixes had secured placements on anthology releases from Warner and Ministry of Sound. The Dead Symphonic EP surfaced in 2012, accompanied that same year by the single “Kick It.” Firepower Records delivered the 2013 single “Here to Stay” featuring Lady Chann, while Never Say Die and its sister imprint No Tomorrow issued the two-part EP Reanimated later in the same year. Never Say Die next presented Zomboy’s first album-length effort, The Outbreak, in 2014, followed by its 2015 remix counterpart Resurrected. The Neon Grave EP appeared on the label in 2016.
