Flux Pavilion

English producer Flux Pavilion began crafting tracks during his teenage years, developing a signature strain of high-energy, infectious dubstep. Advancement came swiftly as self-released online material gave way to vinyl 12"s on assorted labels, international touring, and a career-defining breakthrough with the 2010 track "I Can't Stop," which Kanye West and Jay-Z later sampled. His sharpest material was gathered for the 2015 debut album Tesla.

DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Steele adopted the Flux Pavilion alias near 2008 with the digital release of "Cheap Crisps." Raised in Towcester, he drew early inspiration from dubstep producer Rusko and rock figures such as Bowie and Zappa. While still performing in guitar-based bands alongside Doctor P and Trolley Snatcha, the group downloaded music software, recognized the shift toward digital production, and committed to electronic paths.

By 2010 Flux Pavilion had secured club hits, remixes, and DJ bookings, yet "I Can't Stop" elevated his profile decisively. Two fans encountered during an American tour requested the track for their forthcoming hip-hop album, resulting one year later in its use as the foundation for "Who Gon Stop Me" on Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne. "Bass Cannon" and the Doctor P collaboration "Super Bad" appeared the same year. EPs followed, including 2010's Lines in Wax and 2013's Freeway, before the full-length Tesla arrived in 2015; the album featured Riff Raff alongside Soulsonic Force, affiliates of Afrika Bambaataa.

Steele kept releasing Flux Pavilion singles, EPs, and remixes through the 2010s, rejoining Doctor P for the 2016 Party Drink Smoke EP and issuing further tracks such as "Party Starter" and "Room to Fall."
