Biography
Pentti Hietanen entered the world on October 7, 1958, in Tampere, Finland, and later established himself as a Finnish tenor vocalist whose sequence of stylistically varied albums carried him into the Top Ten near the turn of the century. His first long-player, Katseesi Kertoo Sen, appeared on EMI in 1998. The next release, Lauluni, arrived in 1999 and achieved only modest returns, yet his third effort, Kyynelten Kiertorata, climbed to the Top Five on the Finnish albums chart in 2001. Further titles followed, among them Huominen in 2003, 38 Kauneinta Laulua in 2004, On the Rocks in 2005, and Con Amore in 2007. On the Rocks stood out for its strong reception; assembled from classic rock cover songs, the set reached the Top Ten. To mark a decade as a recording artist, Hietanen issued the best-of anthology Minun Tieni 1998-2008 in 2008, securing his third consecutive Top Ten album.
