Biography
Tobiasz Biliński, a Polish musician and songwriter, first gained recognition through his contributions to the experimental rock band Kyst during the late 2000s and early 2010s. His solo work under the Coldair and Perfect Son monikers later branched into additional styles, yielding the 2016 release The Provider alongside Cast, which surfaced in early 2019.
He entered the music world after co-founding Kyst in 2008 alongside guitarist Adam Byczkowski, shortly following his birth in 1990. What began as a duo later expanded into a complete live ensemble and issued its opening full-length, Cotton Touch, on Gingerbread Records in 2010. The pair’s material blended post-rock, folk, electronic, and ambient textures, attracting alternative listeners across Poland. Their second album, the more instrumental Waterworks, followed in 2011 on the Polish imprint Antena Krzyku.
Biliński simultaneously launched Coldair, a synth-pop vehicle that produced four albums, among them Persephone in 2010 and The Provider in 2016. Throughout the decade he maintained a busy touring schedule with both Kyst and Coldair, appearing at South by Southwest in Austin, Primavera Sound in Barcelona, and Incubate in Tilburg, Netherlands. After The Provider emerged, he initiated Perfect Son, retaining the synth-pop foundation while shifting lyrics toward more affirmative themes; he spent 2017 and 2018 composing and tracking the project’s debut, Cast, which Sub Pop Records issued in early 2019.
