Pezet serves as the performing alias of Warsaw native Paweł Kapliński, a rapper whose profile rose through membership in Polish hip-hop collective Płomień 81 alongside independent solo releases and numerous joint projects. Observers frequently cite his command of freestyle technique and the introspective tone of his verses on urban existence, social conditions, and individual struggles. In 1998 he launched Płomień 81 together with schoolmate Onar, resulting in the Asfalt-issued debut Na Zawsze Będzie Płoną the following year. After rapper Deus entered the lineup, the reconfigured unit delivered its second set, Nasze Dni, in 2000 via R.R.X. Two years later Pezet teamed with producer Mikołaj Bugajak, a member of Grammatik, to form the duo Pezet/Noon; the pair issued the downtempo electronic hip-hop albums Muzyka Klasyczna on T1-Teraz in 2002 and Muzyka Poważna on Embargo Nagrania in 2004, each reaching Poland’s Top 10. Płomień 81, now without Deus, returned in 2005 with Historie z Sąsiedztwa on Konkret Promo and likewise placed inside the national Top 10. Pezet’s first proper solo outing, the more rhythm-driven and dance-oriented Muzyka Rozrywkowa, appeared on Konkret Promo in 2007 and peaked inside the Top 5. A limited 2009 follow-up, Muzyka Emocjonalna, collected remixes alongside fresh material and was offered exclusively through the artist’s own site. In 2010 he joined his younger brother Malolat for the Koka Beats release Dziś w Moim Mieście, which climbed to Top 5 and earned gold certification; the siblings later documented a 2012 concert with the live album/DVD Live in 1500m2. That same year Pezet placed Radio Pezet with EMI, an effort shaped by grime and dubstep that attained number two on the Polish chart and also received gold status. Subsequent activity included guest spots on recordings by Pokahontaz, Slums Attack, and other Polish acts while he prepared new solo material.
