Piotr Szmidt records and performs under the stage name Ten Typ Mes. The Polish rapper and producer has earned recognition both for his narrative abilities and for a production approach that strongly echoes the sound of 1990s gangsta rap and G-funk. In 2001 he helped establish the hip-hop collectives Flexxip and the funk-leaning 2czerty7. Five years later he launched a solo career with the album Alkopoligamia: Zapiski Typa, issued on the T1-Teraz imprint, which entered the Polish album charts inside the top thirty. After 2cztery7 delivered its follow-up LP in 2008, Szmidt contributed guest verses to projects by Pezet, Malolat, and Molesta Ewenement. He then founded his own imprint, Alkopoligamia, and released his second solo effort, Zamach na Przeciętność, which again reached the top thirty. His commercial breakthrough arrived in 2011 with the third album Kandydaci na Szaleńców, peaking at number two and earning gold certification. Two years afterward Ten Typ Mes i Lepsze Żbiki, a collaborative set featuring other Polish rappers, debuted at number three. The eclectic fifth full-length Trzeba Było Zostać Dresiarzem surfaced in 2014 and became another gold-selling top-five entry.
